ABOUT DIVING:
Although most famous for the walls, the underwater landscapes of the Cayman Islands also feature more gradual slopes, spur and groove coral formations and shallow sites, along with several notable shipwrecks. Diving takes place on all sides of each island. Sites west of Grand Cayman offer the calmest waters and are in close proximity to most dive centers, but boats visit all sides of the island, and divers have the most extensive diving infrastructure in the Caribbean. The water temperature is kept between 27 ° C.

TIPS FOR DIVING:

Improve your computer and multi-level dive skills to get the most enjoyment and time at the bottom on wall dives. Look out for the little critters, but also keep an eye out for the blue water for chance encounters with passing pelagics. Advanced Open Water Credentials are suggested if you wish to tour the lower decks of the USS Kittiwake.
.
THE BEST PLACES TO DIVE:
The Kittiwake, a former US underwater rescue ship, has become Grand Cayman's signature shipwreck, but there are several smaller shipwrecks that are also worth your time. Stingray City, just because. Devil's Grotto and Snapper Hole for tarpon and silversides. Ghost Mountain pinnacle for spectacular views and abundant marine life. North Wall sites like Babylon require a longer boat ride, but are rewarded with dramatic topographies. If you visit the Sister Islands, Bloody Bay Wall is a must-see, and the Tibbetts wreck provides a unique opportunity to dive an old Russian warship.
.
WHAT TO PACK FOR DIVING?
To reduce clutter on dive boat decks, use a mesh day bag for scuba gear. Grand Cayman offers a number of good dive sites on the west coast, providing additional opportunities for diving after morning boat dives.
